Classes are designed for children of Persian, Persian American families and other families who want to share Persian culture with their children. Persian language and culture are taught through music and play. Each class has a theme and includes music, play, and arts and crafts. For questions or inquiries please email aftab4kids(at)gmail.com or use the form in the contact page.
The music section includes singing, musical games, movement, and instrument exploration. Storytelling will be involved and children will be encouraged to act out roles. Music is key because it is fun and can play an important role in acquisition of language. Music enhances memory and oral skills while helping children express their feelings in words. By enriching vocabulary and grammar, music helps lay the groundwork for reading and writing. Music and singing are also culturally rich in themselves.
The arts and crafts portion of the class uses inspiration from Persian folklore and expressions to introduce aspects of Persian culture as well as grow vocabulary. Each class ends with a period of improvisation using words and expressions learned during the class and previous classes.
Parents must accompany their children for the youngest age group (2 yrs). Parents and teachers will determine whether parents need or need not be present with the older children. Parents are welcome to attend with their children of any age group.
